In with the New and Out with the Old: Fashion Speeds Up to Keep UpPosted by: abgprint Tagged in: Zara , Uniqlo , Retailer , NYC , New York City , Midtown , Manhattan , Look Books , H&M , Garment District , Fashion District , Fashion Brochures , Crain's New York , 24 Hour Printing , 10018

As more retailers adopt fast fashion strategies by speeding up turn around cycles to as little as two weeks, the fashion industry begins to shift to more local alternatives for production.
It used to be that most fashion companies worked with their local vendors in the garment district, but as the fashion world looked for more cost-effective alternatives to creating clothing, they chose overseas vendors located in countries like China. Soon after, the Garment District was no longer the vibrant mecca of the fashion world as it once used to be.
However recently, competition and the speed of production has forced fashion forward retailers to revert from their overseas productions to more closer and local alternatives. In fact, many retailers looking to cut down production time and speed up turn around cycles are looking at local vendors in locations like the Garment District.
Companies like Zara, H & M and Uniqlo, according to a Crain’s New York article, have reported revenue increases of 18% from 2006 and 2010 because of faster turn arounds. Retailers are now looking to increase revenues by getting merchandise out the door faster and bringing new fashion in quicker. As a result, a new way to tackle this need for speed is to source closer to home.
Today, the Garment District is still the home to many show rooms, fabric vendors and even fashion houses. It is also the home to NYC’s leading 24 hour printing company ABGPrint.com. ABGPrint.com has been working with retailers to produce high quality pitch books, sales presentations, fashion brochures and look books.
